"Kilowatt" Cannon
A
funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Little Zion AME Church in
Sneads Ferry with the Rev. Reginald Bradshaw officiating. Burial followed in
George was a member of Little Zion AME Zion Church for more than 45 years
and formerly served on the trustee board. He was a licensed electrician with

Survivors include wife of 56 years, Mary Louise Whitney Cannon of the
home; son, Ricky J. Cannon of Sneads Ferry; daughters, Patricia Everett of
Raleigh and Coreena McDonald of Surf City; three grandchildren; sisters, Queenie
Trapp of Little Mountain S.C., and Sarah Robinson of New Jersey.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Morgan
Funeral Home in

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received the
Purple Heart from wounds received at Iwo Jima in World War II, and was a member
of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Cape Fear Chapter No 636 in
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie DeFord Dague.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Dague Ford of Stella; three
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Walter Pate Eakins, Sr., 72, of Burgaw, died Wednesday, April 2, at
